The William Morris Collection: bringing art to your home space

If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
William Morris

A 19th century iconic artist, William Morris was a man of many talents.  Among Britain’s most prolific designers, Morris dabbled in various forms of arts and crafts; there were tiles, stained glass, embroidery and furniture. His most celebrated pieces though were his wallpapers.

Through his illustrious career as an art and textile fanatic, Morris produced over 50 wallpapers, each of which were a beautiful depiction of nature. His wallpaper patterns were timeless, balanced and appealing to the eye. It was in the 1870s that his most endearing designs sprung up; ‘Larkspur’, ‘Jasmine’, ‘Willow’ ‘Marigold’, ‘Wreath’ and ‘Chrysanthemum’ were some of the famous few, each encompassing of interwoven patterns, deeper shades and deeply intricate.

To have a William Morris wallpaper is a sign of great taste.

At VLiving, we decided to pay homage to this great artist and creator with our own take on his gorgeous wallpapers. The twist in the tale was that we recreated his designs as pillowcases, the kind that can brighten up any space and add that perfect hue of pastel.

Back in the day, Moriss’ wallpapers were heavy on the pocket, an indication that only a true art connoisseur would invest in these perennial pieces.  Today, VLiving gives you its own rendition of timeless art, stitched together to make sure that your space is more than just a room, it is mix of the old and new with a hint of vintageand summer.

Moriss’ style of ornamentation is unique and deserves to be celebrated in more ways than one. Our pillow cases are heavily inspired from his unambiguous floral patterns and the perfect home decor addition to a muted or colourful space.

Throw them in your bedroom for a pop of floral pastel or keep them with a mix of cushions in your living space to bring in some old school charm.

The William Morris collection is available on our website.
